My Journey
The Teacher Who Planted the Seed
My journey began with one unforgettable educator — Mr. DeLoach.
As a middle school student who needed more emotional support than most of my peers, I experienced what it felt like to truly be seen. Mr. DeLoach was deeply invested in the well-being of his students, and his presence made a lasting impact on my life.
Because of him, I developed a desire to provide that same level of support and emotional awareness to other students one day.
That was the moment the seed was planted.
Discovering the Craft
I later enrolled in the Urban Teaching Academy, where I began formally cultivating my skills as an educator.
During this time:
-
I taught mini lessons to elementary students
-
Studied various educational styles and philosophies
-
Explored different teaching methodologies
-
Learned how to motivate and engage young learners
This experience confirmed that education wasn’t just something I enjoyed — it was something I was called to do.
One-on-One Impact
While in the program, I worked as an aide and tutor at Stewart Middle School and Just Elementary School.
Here, I supported students individually who struggled to fully grasp classroom content. It was also where I encountered a student who completely shifted my perspective on education.
He was a young boy with Asperger’s Syndrome. His teacher felt overwhelmed by his outbursts and lack of attention. I couldn’t ignore the feeling that he was being left out of the educational experience he deserved.
So I began tutoring him after school.
That decision reignited the same spark I felt years earlier — the desire to advocate for students who need a little more attention than their peers.
Small-Class Instructor
This calling led me to become a small-class instructor at a learning center.
I worked with children ages 3–6 who had various exceptionalities, including:
-
ADHD
-
ADD
-
Speech delays
-
Attention challenges
Teaching this age group deepened my patience, strengthened my ability to build connection, and expanded my understanding of individualized support.
It was during this time that I truly understood that education is not one-size-fits-all.
Launching My Private Practice
In 2015, I began developing my own private practice, working with students across grade levels and learning abilities.
Since then, I have had the privilege of supporting students with:
-
ADHD
-
ADD
-
EBDs
-
Short-term memory challenges
-
Autism
-
And diverse learning differences
Each child has shaped me as much as I hope I have shaped them.
Education with Heart & Intention
Today, as the founder of Lotus Learning, my mission remains rooted in the same belief that began as a student in middle school:
Children deserve to be seen, supported, and understood.

In a world of constant change, I believe education (paired with emotionally aware, dedicated instructors) is essential.
My role extends beyond teaching academic content.
I commit to:
-
Open communication with families
-
Emotional awareness in instruction
-
Personalized learning pathways
-
Serving as a support system for your child
Because when we work together as a team, we don’t just teach —
We help your child love to learn.
